knowledge of the most important periods of 
German literature and followed the reading

of Berlin worked at tnis Laboratory as a practi- 
tioner during the winter term 1904/05, in the 
meantime occupying himself with preparations and 
with an analysis in the range of chemistry of 
colors, which he carried out independently. At 
this occasion Dr. Sachs gave evidence of consider- 
able knowledge and remarkable experience; he is 
also a neat and quick worker, is reliable and pos- 
sesses doubtlessly the required experience and 
steadyness for occupying the desired position of 
a chemist to the satisfaction of his employers. 
My best wishes accompany Dr. Sachs in his future 
career.
